A short poem
This was written by a contemporary French poet called Jacques Prevert:
Alicante
Une orange sur la table
Ta robe sur le tapis
Et toi dans mon lit
Doux present du present
Fraicheur de la nuit
Chaleur de ma vie
An orange on the table
Your dress on the rug
And you in my bed
Sweet present of the present
Cool of the night
Warmth of my life
It appears in an out of print book published by Penguin long ago and the guy who collected the poems claimed to have first come across the work of Prevert when he found this written in pencil on a paper table cloth in a bar in Paris.
Romantic or what?
